Like the Raven, the Drake is one of the mainstays of running missions or NPCing out in low and nullsec space. Because of this many newer pilots fly the ships in question and due mostly to lack of skills, lack of knowledge or lack of caring, the setups they tend to display are a poor indication of the true use of the ship. In Syndicate "we"(meaning us and the alliances around us) see and use Drakes as PvP platforms all the time and there isn't much of a stigma left to them unless we kill one or lose one that is particularly badly fit. In that case there's no stopping the ridicule! The problem with the Drake in the tourney is their lackluster DPS, poorer lock ranges, small drone bay and lack of utility due to shield tank and point cost. It seems there are just too many other options that would work better, or rather the "Elite" PvPers would rather not see so many missiles, further skewing the drakehate. All this combined with the large % of people who fly caldari and thus the drake just lends it to situations where it is poorly fit and a laughable kill, just adding fuel to the fire more so than any other ship type really.
